THE ENGINEERING

Inside the Rapid Press

Cutaway line-art of the Rapid Press bottle showing the plunger shaft and three-stage filter cartridge
  1. 01

    Pre-filter

First line of defense. The mesh pre-filter captures sediment, sand and silt before water reaches the cartridge, protecting the finer stages downstream.

  2. 02

    Hollow-fiber ultrafiltration membrane

The core of the system. 0.05-micron pores physically remove 99.9% of bacteria, protozoa and cysts as you press.

  3. 03

    Antibacterial activated carbon

The finishing touch. Activated carbon reduces chemicals, bad taste and odor, so filtered water tastes like water.

How it works

Fill the bottle from any clear freshwater source, press the plunger down, and drink. Filtration takes about ten seconds — no batteries, no pumping, no chemical tablets.

Replacing the cartridge

The cartridge is rated for about 2,500 uses. When the flow slows down, swap in a new one — it takes seconds.

What it doesn't filter

The Rapid Press is built for freshwater — rivers, lakes and streams. It does not filter saltwater or heavily contaminated industrial water. When in doubt, fill from the clearest, fastest-moving water available.

Is it safe for kids?

Yes — the press mechanism is simple enough that kids can use it, and it requires no chemicals or batteries. Adult supervision is still recommended with any water treatment method.

Does it affect flow or taste?

Activated carbon removes chlorine, bad taste and odor, so water tastes fresh. Flow stays fast — about ten seconds to drink — until the cartridge nears the end of its life.

FROM THE TRAIL

Leave a review

I filled it from a glacial runoff stream and pressed. That was it — cold, clean water on a 14-mile day. It's now the first thing in my pack.

Maya R. — Backpacker, Colorado Backcountry hiking

Saved us carrying four liters on the descent. We refilled at every stream we crossed and never thought twice about it.

Daniel K. — Hiker, Washington Day hikes

Tap water in two different countries, zero issues. The press mechanism is so simple I taught my kids to use it in a minute.

Sofia M. — Family traveler International travel

Took it on a week-long kayak trip down the Colorado. River water, pressed and clean in seconds. Everyone in our group ordered one after.

Tyler B. — Kayaker, Utah Paddle expeditions

Perfect for our base camp setup. I pressed a full bottle before breakfast and everyone had clean water for the day. Buying a second one for my son.

Karen S. — Car camper, Oregon Base camping

I keep it in my truck year-round. Hunting trips, forest roads, wherever the water looks questionable — this bottle makes it a non-issue.
